Music Stars Keep it Classy at the 44th Country Music Awards

Country music stars somehow manage to simultaneously be some of the biggest celebrities in the country and separate from the mainstream. However, they are out in full force this week for the Country Music Awards in Nashville, Tennessee. And it’s hard to tell who dazzled more, the stars or their diamonds.

The host of the evening, Carrie Underwood, who blew up the country charts after she also appeared on American Idol, paired her over the top Talbot Runhof strapless gown with simple diamond earrings, and her over the top engagement ring of course. Underwood recently exchanged wedding rings with NHL Hockey player, Mike Fisher, after he presented her with a 5 carat, Round cut yellow diamond worth $150,000. The wedding took place in July of 2010, but the ring is still turning heads on the red carpet.

Sheryl Crow, who is almost a veteran of the red carpet, sparkled when she paired coral, gold, and diamond earrings with a diamond cocktail ring. Just because a girl isn’t engaged, doesn’t mean she can’t show off a little bling too. As Taylor Swift can testify to, the young starlet, who is somewhat responsible for bringing country music into the pop realm recently, arrived on the red carpet wearing drop diamond earrings in a leafy design with matching bracelets and diamond cocktail ring.

Recent rumor ravaged singer LeAnn Rimes also walked the red carpet, but decided to keep it simple with a pair of small earring and chunky ring, but with no engagement ring to be seen. However, it was just recently announced that Rimes has added her talents to the CMA Country Christmas Concert, which will be aired on TV closer to the holiday season.

And American Idol alum Kellie Pickler, who was there as a correspondent for the Ellen DeGeneres show, made headlines when she showed up sporting her new diamond engagement ring. Pickler, who became engaged to songwriter Kyle Jacobs this past summer, previously said that she couldn’t care less if her ring came from a crackerjacks box. Regardless, it’s a safe bet that this round cut, halo style engagement ring wasn’t a free prize from a box.
