It’s all in the Details: Intricately Designed Engagement Rings

Gone, it seems, are the days of the minimalist engagement ring fad that featured clean shanks and ultra-modern diamond cuts like Khloe Kardashian’s massive Emerald cut diamond engagement ring, or even Reese Witherspoon’s glamorous Ashoka diamond solitaire.

Instead, in the just the first couple of months of 2011, intricately designed engagement rings are making waves on the fingers of some recently engaged celebrities.  Whether it is rows of pave’ set diamonds , twisted shanks, or antique styling, it looks like the year will be all about the details.

Jesse James may not have the largest fan base since his divorce from actress Sandra Bullock, and his new fiancé may not look like the most traditional bride-to-be, but the engagement ring he proposed with is classically romantic.

The vintage inspired engagement ring is a combination of one central Round cut diamond and surrounding smaller diamonds that are set into platinum in a dome-like design.  The 4 carats of diamonds are paired with a filigree pattern and intricate scroll work in order to create a soft antique look.  Love it or hate him, it looks like James at least has style.

For an engagement ring that introduces a little more detail but not as much design work as Kat Von D’s ring, there is the Venetian 5011R. Featuring a Round cut center set into a shank adorned with two rows of pave’ set diamonds lying side by side, and antique beading.  Complete with the delicate lace detail under the shank, this ring is the perfect combination of modern ideals and classical design.

Natalie Portman, Hollywood’s current it-girl, is another celebrity sporting a heavily designed ring, however hers is considered vegan.  Featuring recycled platinum, an antique Round cut center diamonds, and conflict free pave’ set diamonds; this ring is not only a symbol of her love, but also a symbol of her ideals.

The Paradiso 3001R from Verragio is another engagement ring that features plenty of intricate, delicate detail, and like Portman’s, it is perfectly formed to become a family heirloom.  The Round cut diamond center is set onto a shank adorned with separate rows of in-set pave’ set diamonds, while the inside of shank features the signature scrolling design of the Paradiso collection, which makes it both a stylish and functional style.

So while everything that goes around can come back around again, it seems that the sleek look of 2010 may just be heading in for a trade in, and for older looking models it seems, proving that romance is always in style.
