Tony Romo Engaged: Continuing to Make Birthdays Special

Tony Romo, quarterback for the Dallas Cowboys, has been known to have some pretty high profile relationships in the past, having first come onto the pop culture radar when he dated  Country music star, Carrie Underwood in 2006.

However, it seems like his dating days are over now that he has reportedly proposed to former Miss Missouri and television reporter, Candice Crawford.

The couple, who began dating in 2009, was having dinner with Crawford’s family at the Dallas restaurant Five Sixty to celebrate her 24th birthday yesterday when Romo reportedly popped the question.

Crawford, who is also the sister to Gossip Girl star Chace Crawford, displayed her new engagement ring exclusively on KDAF-TV’s website, the news station which she works for in Fort Worth Texas.  No official details on the ring yet, but the large sparkler appears to be a Cushion cut diamond, a style favored by other celebrities like Ivanka Trump and Ashley Judd.

The NFL pro has had plenty of time to plan his proposal after being sidelined for the season due to a hit he took in October that resulted in a broken clavicle.

Romo was also previously romantically involved with Jessica Simpson, who denied any hard feelings over their breakup on the Late Show with David Letterman earlier this year.

“Tony is great, still a friend of mine,” she told the talk show host. “I still look at his cute butt in the outfit, uniform.”

Simpson’s denials are easily believable since she is enjoying her own recent engagement to former NFL player Eric Johnson.

If there is one thing Romo knows how to do apparently is make birthdays memorable; he reportedly broke up with Simpson on the day before her 29th birthday.
