Actress Ginnifer Goodwin showed up on the red carpet for the premier of season five of Big Love, on which she costar, wearing an extra special accessory; her engagement ring. Partnered by her new fiancé, actor Joey Kern, the actress displayed her 2.5 carat diamond.
The couple got together in December, but kept the news quiet until after the holidays, and even in the swarm of celebrity engagements announced in the last month, Goodwin’s ring has still managed to stand out. The engagement ring, which is being hailed as one of the most modern engagement rings in Hollywood, was specifically designed by Kern himself, according to CBS.
The platinum design features a 2.5 carat, square cut diamond center, set onto channel set diamond shoulders “in an angular architectural style,” according to the magazine ‘UsWeekly, ’and is the perfect piece to be handed down as an heirloom.
The couple was set up by a friend two years ago, and made their first public appearance together in Las Vegas during April of 2009, effectively putting an end to rumors that Goodwin had been dating her costar Justin Long, from the movie “He’s Just Not That into You.”
The actress has been criticized in the media lately after appearing in the publication ‘Health Magazine’ in which she told the reporter that she had been on diet since she was 9 years old. She later clarified by saying it was not a weight loss issue but rather a way to eat healthy that she was trying to promote.
However, diet scandal or no, Goodwin, who will also be starring in a new movie with Kate Hudson soon, told ‘Health’ that she couldn’t be happier.
“I’m a hopeless romantic,” the star said. “When I’m in a healthy relationship, I’m more secure, I’m more alive, I’m more challenged, I’m more…open.”
